Scares that Care weekend (August 3-5) will be the first opportunity people have to get autographed copies of this book directly from me, but we are hoping to have a few more signings for those of you who have been faithful to the exterminators of the strange and weird.
We also have some very fun things in store that I will share once they are completed. If you missed the cover reveal on Facebook, scroll down to view it. A great big thanks to Caralyn Edwards-Tucker, my cover artist and partner in crime.
Please keep checking back ladies and gentlemen as I keep you up to date on where I’ll be and when this volume is available.
Terror Beneath Cactus Flats has received a 4-star review on Goodreads.
James Rhodes had the following to say: “This is a great fun non-stop action piece. The author has set it in tourist western ghost town which allows for a good bit of cross genre entertainment. The pace is maintained from the first page to the last.
This book makes for an excellent short read, though I would also enjoy a longer read in the same universe.”
Thanks James for the great review. If you dear reader have read any of my works, please consider leaving a review on Goodreads or Amazon.

Hey, I thought I’d start off the week with a book recommendation. This is still very much a Monster Monday, and the monster of the recommended book clearly reflects that.
Owl Goingback’s first novel, Crota, was a Bram Stoker award-winning book. It has everything that you would want in a monster-driven horror novel: compelling characters, a great monster, an interesting backstory, and a setting that lends to the atmosphere. I’ve read all of this authors books, and they are all good, but Crota has always been my favorite with its blend of modern horror and Native American myth. I suspect many of you will quickly fall in love with this book as well.

Synopsis: It is called Crota…and it has awakened. Sheriff Skip Harding is called out to investigate a double homicide unlike any he has seen before: the bodies are torn to pieces in the woods. Some think it’s a bear. But others whisper something different. It’s the Crota, they say. The great beast of legend that one day will reawaken. And that day has arrived….
I figured that people might get tired of just having me talk about movies that I love, and that brings us here to my first book recommendation for this October. Do you love zombies? If so, do you like when people try new things with them? What about a zombie plague that isn’t just singled out for humans? It is for this reason that I’m suggesting Brian Keene’s The Rising. One of the best zombie novels I’ve ever read, Keene does something completely new with the shambling dead. These are not your shambling undead or even the sprinting variety. These rotting fiends are intelligent and can use vehicles and tools. Another fun thing is that zombies aren’t just people. You’ll see a zombie lion, birds, and deer in this story. He also explains where these zombies come from, and it is truly terrifying.
When I first read this book, I started and finished it in the same day. I could not put it down. If you love zombies and aren’t sure what to make of a currently saturated market, pick up this book for a great, new experience. Click on the cover below to pick up a copy and read the synopsis below.
Synopsis: THE RISING is the story of Jim Thurmond, a determined father battling his way across a post-apocalyptic zombie landscape, to find his young son. Accompanied by Martin, a preacher still holding to his faith, and Frankie, a recovering heroin addict with an indomitable will to survive, Jim travels from state to state and town to town, facing an endless onslaught of undead hordes, and the evils perpetrated by his fellow man.
The latest review of Friedkin’s Curse: A Werewolf Tale of Terror. One Amazon customer had this to say in their 5-star review: “Well written. Good character and story development. I have read some of this author’s short stories and would recommend his work.”

Good to see you again faithful readers, I wanted to follow up and let everyone know that Winston & Baum and the Trials of the Baba Yaga is now available in print.
“What’s this one about?” I can hear you asking, and I’m glad you asked.
Book 4 of the Winston & Baum Steampunk Adventures finds our heroes in a very different situation than before, just read the synopsis to see what I mean.
Synopsis: As the war between Britain and Prussia continues to rage on, Baba Yaga, the legendary witch of Prussia, takes a firm stand against the foreign army with all of her supernatural allies. Dan and Lee are pulled apart as Lee is drafted into a special unit of hunters being sent to deal with the monstrous menace. With his ship lost behind enemy lines and most of his unit captured, Lee and the Scottish hunter, Brogan, must attempt to make their way back towards friendly territory, but it won’t be an easy task as the Baba Yaga’s forces hound their every step. When word that Lee is missing reaches home, Dan and Brackish set out on a dangerous mission to save their friend. Following Lee’s path, the two hunters soon learn that the dangers their friend faces are even greater than they imagined. As they race through the Prussian countryside, Dan and Brackish try to reach Lee before the Baba Yaga can get him in her clutches. As they fight to survive, can the exterminators of the strange and weird endure the trials of the Baba Yaga?

You can actually come out and see me this weekend at Mobicon in Mobile, Alabama. While I won’t have copies of book 4, I will have copies of the first three books in the Winston & Baum steampunk adventure series, as well as copies of Friedkin’s Curse. My wife and cover artist will also be selling copies of her prints and original 3d sculptures. You can view more of her work here. If you are looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend, swing by and say hey and pick up a book or some art.
I am also currently working on the next two Winston & Baum related projects. The first is a collection of short stories featuring other exterminators of the strange and weird that have been introduced in the main Winston & Baum series, , as well as an early adventure of Dan and Lee’s. I decided to do this after I had so much fun writing Brackish’s short story for Winston & Baum and the Disk of Night. The other project is the fifth Winston & Baum novel, which will be unlike any of the other stories and not be based on regional folklore or mythology. It’s definitely going to be interesting.
That’s all from me for right now, but keep checking back for more information on where I’ll be and what I’m working on.
