Hello good reader, I will be attending Dragoncon this Labor Day weekend, and I hope you will be also.
As in previous years, I will be in the Art Show with my cover artist. This will be her 10th year!
As in years past, copies of the Winston & Baum Steampunk Adventures will be available at her table for sale.
If you get the chance to stop by and say hello, please do. If you don’t, enjoy yourself and have a safe con. Keep checking back for even more great places to catch up with me!
Steampunk Expo was this past weekend, and we had a great time. A big thank you to everyone that came by and picked up a book, some art, or just stopped to talk for a little bit.
Even though it was a small show, it was incredibly well run and a lot of fun. A lot of great artists and vendors were there. Below are just a few of the highlights .
We got to hang out with the tea maven of Dryad Tea. If you are a tea lover you should check out her stuff at http://dryadtea.com/. She has a massive variety of teas. My wife is a big fan of her chai teas.
For the heavier drinkers out there make your own special brews of absinthe with the flavors at http://www.leloupgaroualchemy.com/. They have a wide variety and import their wormwood for a true, authentic absinthe.
We got to meet the members of the Dark Princess Theatre. They had some really good tales of supernatural events in the Chattanooga area, and I can’t wait to get started listening to their podcast. You can find them at http://www.darkprincesstheatre.com/.
One of our neighbors was artist Eddie Price (www.eddieprice.net). Go check out his site and pick up some really cool comic art, or one of his handmade 3-d pieces, which are incredible to see in person.
Steampunk author Geoffrey Mandragora was there with his Thunderbolt Chronicles series. Check out his books on his Amazon page here.
We also got to see some of our friends that we haven’t seen for a little while.
If Steampunk Expo will have us, Caralyn and I will be back next year for another fun, steam-driven convention at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Next weekend, I will be attending Connooga (February 19-21) in Chattanooga, TN. Last year was my first year as a guest of the con (my first-time as a guest at any con). Connooga is a fun con that is growing, but has not reached that apex peak like conventions such as Comic-con or Dragoncon. Good guests, fun panels, great cosplay, and diverse vendors/artists/authors make this my favorite con in the Southeast right now.
A few people have asked about any panels that I am apart of, and I now have a schedule for those.
Scary Story Time – 7:00
Horror of Sci-Fi – 12:00
Early American Serial Killers – 1:00
Research for Writers: Getting It Right – 10:00
Writing Tales of Terror – 1:00
When I am not on a panel, I will be at a booth with my wife and cover artist, selling copies of my books and her artwork or wondering the con taking a little break. So, please drop by and say hello, or if some of these panels catch your eye drop by and enjoy. Hope to see you next weekend, and keep checking back to find out what I’m up to.
